Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 rumored release date and pricing

Samsung’s foldables used to appear in August, but the company has been shifting that timeline forward over the past few years. Last year’s Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 launch took place on 10 July, for example, and if rumors are correct, we should expect something similar this year.

Some rumors claim that Samsung is gearing up for an early July launch for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, potentially on 10 July 2025, though others point towards an event a few days later on 13 July 2025.

Either way, that’s just weeks away, and with Samsung actively teasing the new foldable right now, it’s clear we don’t have long to wait until its grand unveiling.

When it comes to the all-important pricing, whispers suggest that Samsung is keen to keep the pricing in line with last year’s $1,899/£1,799 Galaxy Z Fold 6.

However, that could be easier said than done; not only will Samsung have to deal with Trump’s tariffs in the US, but it’s also facing challenges with adoption, with fewer sales of the Fold 6 than anticipated, both of which could lead to a higher price for the Fold 7 in some regions.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 design and screen rumors

Samsung itself has already confirmed that it’s going to be a big year for the Fold.

It has already teased that the upcoming foldable will be the company’s “thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet”, complete with a short video showcasing a particularly thin foldable silhouette. It’s unclear whether it’ll be thinner than the likes of the Oppo Find N5 and Honor Magic V3, but it certainly looks like a big improvement on the Z Fold 6.

But what about unofficially? That’s where things start to get a little more interesting.

First up, the usually accurate OnLeaks, in collaboration with Android Headlines, claims that the Z Fold 7 will indeed be quite a bit thinner, measuring in at just 4.5mm thick compared to the Fold 6’s 5.36mm. He even included an early render of what the phone will look like.

However, other sources claim it could measure anywhere from 3.9mm thick when unfolded to 8.2mm thick when folded, so even though it’s thinner, the specifics are far from confirmed at this stage.

The tipster also claims that there could be larger screens to boot, with upgraded 6.5-inch cover and 8.2-inch foldable screens, up from 6.3 inches and 7.6 inches, respectively.

That said, there are disagreements about the size of the internal panel. Some claim that it’ll have the same 8-inch panel as the Special Edition Galaxy Z Fold 6, which was released in certain regions in late 2024, while others, such as OnLeaks, believe it’ll feature an 8.2-inch panel.

However, it’s also said that the panel will have much slimmer bezels than those of the Z Fold 6 Special Edition, which could extend the usable area to 8.2 inches. That could be the source of the confusion here.

However, that’s not the only exciting element when it comes to screen tech.

Back at MWC 2025, Samsung showed off a range of foldable screen concepts, including a near-creaseless foldable screen. It’s possible that this technology could be used in the Fold 7, especially as we found the crease in the Fold 6 to be quite noticeable compared to the competition.

Some sources claim that there will indeed be a reduction in the overall crease, along with a smoother and more durable hinge mechanism to bolster the durability on offer. A separate rumor points towards a titanium backplate to further enhance this element, following the use of the material on the Special Edition Fold 6.

Elsewhere, sources claim that the Z Fold 7 could be available in Silver Shadow, Black Shadow, Jetblack and Coralred, though some of these options – and other, yet-to-be-discovered finishes – could be exclusive to the Samsung Store. Samsung tends to do that fairly often, especially for the more vibrant finishes.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 camera rumors

Most of the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s camera rumors focus on the primary camera, and there’s surprising harmony around the leaks.

Not one, not two, but three different sources all claim that the Z Fold 7 will feature an upgraded 200MP main camera, likely the same one found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Given that it’s Samsung’s top-end foldable, and it made an appearance on the Special Edition phone last year, it sounds like a well overdue upgrade.

However, one of the sources also claimed that the accompanying zoom and ultrawide lenses will remain unchanged, so it’s not a complete overhaul of the camera system.

Other rumors claim that the foldable will have a better under-display camera, as well as improvements to Samsung’s ProVisual engine that’ll have a knock-on effect on both photos and videos captured on the foldable.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 performance and software rumors

Given Samsung’s adoption of the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy across its flagship Galaxy S25 range, it’s safe to assume that it’ll also feature in the company’s top-end foldable.

In fact, we’ve seen several sources confirm as much, as well as an early benchmark appearing on Geekbench 6. Combined with 12GB of RAM (or up to 16GB, according to one source), this should translate to a notable boost in everyday performance and Galaxy AI capabilities.

Samsung has also confirmed that the foldable will release with OneUI 8, based on the new Android 16. Not much is known about the latest update, however, but it’ll likely feature the same Galaxy AI smarts as the Galaxy S25 collection – and hopefully a few unique versions too.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like there’s much change on the battery front, with regulator certification pointing towards the same 4,400mAh cell as that of its predecessor. It could charge faster than the 25W of last year’s model, however, and it could also be more battery-efficient thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
