Apple should have made this iPhone wireless charger

Twelve South has unveiled the Valet at CES 2026, a premium wireless charging tray that feels closer to a piece of home decor than a typical tech accessory.

The Valet is designed as a leather catchall tray first and a charger second, combining a spacious Nappa leather surface for everyday essentials with integrated Qi2 wireless charging for iPhones, AirPods and other Qi-compatible devices.

Twelve South says the idea was to move away from the visual clutter of traditional charging pads and docks, instead creating something that naturally belongs on a nightstand, console table or kitchen counter.

Wireless charging is handled through a built-in Qi2 pad delivering up to 15W, allowing compatible iPhones and AirPods cases to charge without cables or alignment guesswork.

Alongside the wireless pad, the Valet includes a hidden USB-C port under the base that provides up to 15W of power for a second device, such as an Apple Watch, Kindle or tablet.

The tray itself is made from soft Nappa leather and framed by a weighted zinc alloy base, giving it enough heft to stay in place while keeping keys, wallets and other daily items organised.

Rather than committing users to a single layout, Twelve South has built in flexible orientation options.

Integrated cable management beneath the base allows the Valet to be positioned in four different orientations, making it easier to fit narrow nightstands or wider surfaces while choosing whether the phone sits on the left or right.

Customisation is another key part of the design

The Valet launches with a base wrapped in Black or Taupe leather, while the outer metal frame is removable and interchangeable.

Frame options include Black, Taupe, Brown, and Ecru, with additional frames sold separately, allowing the charger to change appearance over time without replacing the entire unit.

To avoid lighting up bedrooms at night, Twelve South has added what it calls the “Goodnight Glow”, a short charging indicator that fades away after a few seconds.

Despite its understated look, the Valet ships with a 36W power adapter and a 1.5m USB-C cable in the box.

Valet is available for pre-order in the United States for $179.99, with a launch scheduled for January 15, 2026. International availability is planned for later in 2026.
