Google Wallet is about to get a huge new feature

Google Wallet on Android looks set to become a lot more useful.

A forthcoming update suggests the app will soon show a full transaction history, bringing it much closer to the experience already available on the web, and reducing the need to jump between apps just to check where your money’s gone.

Right now, Google Wallet only shows your 10 most recent tap-to-pay and Google Pay transactions, and only from the phone you’re using. Dig a little deeper and you can tap “View more activity”, but even then, the list is limited and notably excludes payments made on paired Wear OS devices.

That’s about to change. According to the Google Play services v26.01 release notes, Wallet will soon let users “view transactions from other devices and online purchases that use virtual card numbers.” In short, everything in one place.

It’s a feature Google already offers on wallet.google.com, where users can browse a full payment history and even search through transactions. This update appears to be a fairly straightforward move to bring that same functionality into the mobile app, where it arguably belongs.

There are more signs that this is on the way. Strings spotted in Google Wallet version 25.1.x suggest that search functionality is also being prepared, making it easier to find specific purchases without scrolling endlessly through your payment history.

If it rolls out as expected, this would turn Google Wallet into a much more complete payments hub. Being able to see transactions across phones, Wear OS watches, and online purchases — all in one app — could mean fewer trips to your bank’s own app just to double-check a charge.

The feature is expected to be available on both Android phones and Wear OS, although there’s no confirmed release date yet. As with many Google Wallet updates, changes spotted in release notes don’t always arrive immediately, some can take weeks or even months to appear.

Still, if and when it lands, this could be one of the most meaningful upgrades Google Wallet has seen in a while, quietly fixing a long-standing gap in its core payments experience.
