Epson has unveiled a new flagship ultra-short-throw projector aimed squarely at those interested in creating premium home cinema setups.
The Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970 brings 4K resolution, high brightness and built-in smart features to a sleek UST design, which means it can be sat just centimetres from the wall.
Replacing the popular EH-LS800, the EH-LS970 is built around Epson’s 3LCD laser technology. It delivers a native 3840 x 2160 image paired with a claimed 4,000 lumens of brightness.
The reuslt, Epson claims, is a performance that is much better suited to everyday living rooms than less bright home cinema projectors. Epson also highlights a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. This is designed to improve depth and shadow detail in darker scenes.

One of the biggest upgrades here is the inclusion of an AI-powered image optimisation engine. This automatically adjusts picture settings based on the content and environment. The projector can throw images up to 150 inches in size thanks to its ultra-short-throw ratio of 0.16–0.4:1. At the same time, installation is kept neat and unobtrusive.
Smart features are baked in too. The EH-LS970 runs Google TV, complete with access to streaming apps including Netflix. It also supports Epson’s Setting Assistant app that uses your smartphone camera to help fine-tune alignment and setup. Noise levels are kept low at 29dB, and in the Epson’s quiet mode, they can drop to just 18dB.
Audio is handled by a Bose-engineered speaker system with Dolby Audio support. This aims to deliver room-filling sound without the immediate need for an external soundbar. Gamers aren’t left out either. There is an ALLM gaming mode that promises input lag under 20ms.
The projector uses a laser light source rated for 20,000 hours. Epson says sustainability is a focus this time around, with low-energy modes, recyclable packaging and a five-year warranty included as standard.
The Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970 is set to launch in April 2026. It positions itself as a high-end alternative to traditional TVs for those looking to build a large-screen home cinema without the hassle of ceiling mounts or complex installs.
