Sennheiser’s latest TV headphones are built around a simple idea: modern TVs keep getting thinner, however, their speakers aren’t getting any better.
The new RS 275 TV Headphones aim to fix that by delivering private, full-bodied wireless sound. Whether you’re watching a blockbuster on a huge OLED or catching up on late-night TV without waking the rest of the house, these headphones offer a solution.
The RS 275 is sold as a bundle, pairing the lightweight HDR 275 headphones with Sennheiser’s new BTA1 TV transmitter. Together, they promise low-latency audio, wide compatibility and plenty of room for personalisation, all without turning setup into a chore.
At the heart of the system is Auracast, powered by the LC3 Bluetooth codec. In practical terms, that means audio and video stay in sync. Wireless range stretches up to 50 metres, and the headphones can also connect directly to other Auracast or standard Bluetooth devices nearby. Therefore, you’re not limited to TV use with tablets and smartphones are fair game too.
Sennheiser says sound quality leans heavily on vocal clarity, backed by a solid bass response. There are built-in tools designed to enhance dialogue and immersion. This should be particularly useful for films and sports, where muddy speech is often the first thing to suffer on TV speakers.
Comfort is clearly a priority here. The HDR 275 headphones are designed to feel closer to a TV remote than a traditional over-ear headset. They have breathable fabric cushions and a light clamp force aimed at long viewing sessions. Physical buttons handle volume, power and calls.
Additionally, battery life stretches up to 50 hours on a single charge. Both the battery and ear cushions are user-replaceable. This suggests Sennheiser is positioning these as a long-term fixture rather than a disposable accessory.
For those who want more control, the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app adds deeper customisation. From EQ presets and hearing profiles to balance adjustment and noise suppression modes, the app lets you tailor the sound without touching the transmitter. There’s even a mono mode designed to clean up hiss and static. This is a nice touch for older films and TV shows.
The bundled BTA1 transmitter does more than just send audio to the headphones. It supports multiple inputs, including optical, 3.5mm and HDMI ARC. It can broadcast sound to other Auracast-compatible devices such as earbuds, hearing aids and speakers. Physical controls allow quick switching between inputs and sound modes. In addition, the app unlocks features like video delay compensation and Auracast broadcast settings.
The Sennheiser RS 275 TV Headphones are available for pre-order now, priced at £219.99, with shipping starting on February 17, 2026. The BTA1 transmitter can also be bought separately for £114.99. Meanwhile, a retail-exclusive RS 255 version drops the headphone stand for those who don’t need it.
