Marantz expands its home cinema amp line-up with AV 30 and AMP 30

Marantz has expanded its high-end home cinema lineup with the AV 30 AV preamplifier and AMP 30 power amplifier, two new reference-grade components designed for serious home theatre setups.

The pair sit alongside the brand’s existing AV 10/20 models, offering a more flexible route to high-performance surround sound without compromising on Marantz’s signature tuning.

At the heart of the system is the AV 30, an 11.4-channel AV preamplifier built around a powerful dual-core SHARC DSP platform paired with high-quality 32-bit DACs.

That processing muscle allows it to handle everything from high-resolution stereo to full-fat immersive formats, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced and Auro-3D. It also supports 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video across all its seven HDMI inputs.

Room correction is handled by Audyssey MultEQ XT32 as standard, with optional support for Dirac Live, Dirac Bass Control and Dirac Active Room Treatment for users who want to fine-tune multi-subwoofer and multi-speaker setups even further. Marantz says the AV 30 is designed to scale easily, whether it’s anchoring a modest media room or forming the backbone of a much larger dedicated cinema.

The AMP 30 is a slimline six-channel power amplifier, delivering 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms. It’s flexible too: channels can be bridged for up to 400W per channel, or reconfigured for bi-amping, making it suitable for a wide range of speaker layouts. Both XLR and RCA inputs are included, and Marantz positions it as an ideal partner not just for the AV 30, but also for existing AV 10 or AV 20 systems.

Design-wise, both units lean into Marantz’s modern luxury look, complete with the latest version of the brand’s iconic porthole display and subtle side illumination. The AV 30 adds a fold-down front panel to keep rarely used controls out of sight, while even the remote gets backlighting for dark-room use.

Streaming is fully covered too, with HEOS built in alongside Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Roon Ready, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth. As with Marantz’s other reference models, both units are Sound Master tuned and built at the company’s Shirakawa Audio Works facility in Japan.
