Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip line has become the go‑to clamshell foldable for most people, and 2026’s Galaxy Z Flip 8 could mark its biggest shift in quite some time.
Early leaks and rumours paint a picture of a dramatically thinner and lighter foldable, along with a potential move back to Snapdragon silicon after a year in Exynos territory.
It’s not all good news though; whispers also suggest that we’ll be seeing the same camera setup once again, and this year’s foldable could also be more expensive than last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8, from release date and pricing rumours to the latest design, performance and camera leaks.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 rumours at a glance
Expected to launch in July 2026

Near-identical camera setup to the Flip 7
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 release date and pricing rumours
Rumours are a little thin on the ground about when we should expect the Galaxy Z Flip 8 specifically, but Samsung is pretty rigid with its foldable release schedule, making it easier to make an educated guess.
For the past couple of years, Samsung has preferred a July release for its Flip and Fold smartphones, moving up slightly from the older August release date preferred for its foldables, with no real signs of that changing in 2026.
That said, we’d expect both the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Fold 8 to appear sometime in July 2026.
When it comes to pricing, Samsung’s next Flip might be more expensive due to rising RAM costs across the tech sector, though the company is said to be doing everything it can to keep the same £1049/$1099 price point as its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 design and screen rumours
Last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 marked a big jump forward in terms of design, sporting a much thinner and lighter profile, but the Z Flip 7 still looked and felt similar to the Flip 6. Well, it looks like Samsung wants to rectify that with the Z Flip 8.
According to leaker Jukan, Samsung is aiming to make the Z Flip 8 at least 10% slimmer than the Z Flip 7 which, for reference, measured in at 6.5mm unfolded and 13.7mm folded. A 10% reduction could see sizes closer to 6mm and 12.3mm, making for one of the slimmest flip phones around right now.

Similarly, a separate rumour from IceUniverse suggests that the Flip 8 could weigh as little as 150g, a massive reduction of 38g compared to the 188g Flip 5, lending more fuel to the super-slim design flames.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 camera rumours
Samsung’s Flip has featured the same combination of 50MP main and 12MP ultrawide lenses since the release of the Flip 6 in 2024, so there were hopes that Samsung would give the camera hardware a meaningful update this year – especially if it’s getting a new ultra-thin design.
However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Early rumours suggest that the Flip 8 will sport the exact same 50MP and 12MP snappers as the Flip 7 and 6.
While Samsung will undoubtedly have improved the tuning of the lenses to get better performance this year, it marks the third year of using the same hardware – though that shouldn’t be much of a surprise considering Samsung’s reluctance to upgrade cameras even on its flagship Galaxy S range.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 performance rumours
While we see Samsung flip-flopping between Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets for its flagship Galaxy S line, the Galaxy Z Flip line has been surprisingly consistent in using Snapdragon-powered chipsets – until last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 was released with the Exynos 2500, that is.
The switch arguably made sense more on the Flip than the flagship S range, with the S range focused more on performance and productivity, while the Flip is positioned as more of a lifestyle-focused phone without the need for the absolute fastest performance around.
Well, it looks like Samsung has decided to reverse that decision with the Flip 8, which is rumoured to sport a custom version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, also expected to debut in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
