The biggest iPhone Fold leak yet details design, specs and more

Fresh leaks are starting to paint a clearer picture of Apple’s long-rumoured iPhone Fold. It’s shaping up to be one of the most radical redesigns the company has attempted in years.

New details shared by reliable Weibo leaker Instant Digital suggest Apple is rethinking everything from button placement to camera layout. This is all in service of what could be the largest battery ever fitted to an iPhone.

One of the more surprising changes is where the buttons are going.

According to the leak, the volume buttons will move to the top-right edge of the device, similar to the iPad mini. Rather than sitting on the left side like current iPhones, the power button, which is said to include Touch ID instead of Face ID, and the AI camera button remain on the right-hand side.

The reasoning is practical rather than aesthetic. With the motherboard positioned on the right, Apple reportedly avoided running cabling across the folding display. As a result, the left side is almost entirely free for screen structure and battery components. This layout decision reportedly enables the Fold’s unusually large battery capacity.

On the display front, the iPhone Fold is said to use a single punch-hole front camera, resulting in a cleaner look without the need for a Dynamic Island. That lines up with reports that Face ID won’t be part of the package this time around.

Camera design is also getting a shake-up. The rear dual-camera system, along with the microphone and flash, is said to sit horizontally on the right side; it is mounted on a black camera plate that doesn’t match the body colour. White is the only colour confirmed so far, although a second option is expected.

While this leak focuses mainly on design, it also quietly reinforces earlier reports about battery life. A separate leaker has claimed the iPhone Fold could feature a 5,500mAh battery or larger, comfortably surpassing the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Taken together, the iPhone Fold sounds like a blend of iPad mini ergonomics and iPhone hardware. It is built around a folding display and an aggressively space-efficient internal layout. If these leaks hold true, Apple’s first foldable won’t just be different — it could reset expectations for battery life and design in the iPhone lineup.
