Motorola Razr 70 and 70 Ultra tipped for global launch as Galaxy Z Flip 8 rivals

Motorola’s Razr 70 and Razr 70 Ultra have been cleared by regulators in multiple regions, signalling a global launch this spring.

The two clamshell foldables are expected to arrive together and directly challenge Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8, expected sometime this summer, setting up one of the most competitive battles in the foldable market this year.

Certifications from the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) confirm both devices are ready for sale across Europe and the Middle East. The timing of these approvals, just days apart, strongly suggests Motorola will unveil the pair simultaneously rather than staggering their release.

The Razr 70 series is expected to replace last year’s Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra, with early leaks pointing towards significant upgrades, including a brighter 6.9‑inch pOLED display on the Razr 70 Ultra, potentially reaching 4,000 nits.

Analysts believe Motorola is aiming to counter consumer fatigue with foldables by delivering meaningful improvements in design and performance rather than incremental tweaks.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 8, due later in the summer, is rumoured to feature a slimmer profile and a return to Snapdragon processors. However, its camera setup may remain unchanged, and pricing could rise compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. This leaves Motorola with an opportunity to undercut Samsung on value while offering a more ambitious hardware refresh.

Of course, it’s not the only foldable that Motorola is working on; there’s also the book-style Razr Fold, revealed at CES 2026 and due for release sometime this year.
