Nothing has confirmed it will hold its next launch event on March 5, but it’s the way the company announced it that’s grabbing attention.
CEO Carl Pei effectively hijacked Apple’s own event flyer, taking the promotional image for Apple’s March 4 launch and replacing the branding and date with Nothing’s.
This move positions Nothing’s upcoming reveal just one day after Apple’s next iPhone announcement. It’s unlikely that timing is accidental.
Nothing’s official X account has taken a slightly calmer approach, it has also confirmed the March 5 date. Teaser images hint at new colour options, including pink and blue. At the same time, there’s the promise that the upcoming device will “feel good” likely a nod to updated materials or a revised finish.
The headline product is expected to be the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, the successor to last year’s Phone (3a) Pro.
Early reports suggest it will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a 4nm chip featuring four Cortex-A720 performance cores and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores. Moreover, both the standard Phone (4a) and the Pro model are tipped to launch with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM. Storage options will range from 128GB to 256GB.
Nothing is also expected to unveil the Nothing Headphone (a) at the same event, expanding its growing audio lineup.
The proximity to Apple’s launch could allow Nothing to directly compare its mid-range offering with Apple’s latest entry-level iPhone. This could potentially highlight advantages like display speed, battery size, or camera count at a lower price point. That strategy has become something of a trademark for the brand, which often leans into playful, and sometimes provocative marketing.
For now, full details remain under wraps, but March 5 is shaping up to be a busy week in the smartphone calendar. Whether Nothing’s bold teaser translates into meaningful upgrades remains to be seen, but it certainly knows how to get people talking.
