Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra may not keep its headline display feature to itself for long.
According to new leaks, the company’s Privacy Display technology could soon appear on rival Android flagships. This could happen as early as September this year.
The Privacy Display was first teased by Samsung in 2024. The company described it as a panel that can dynamically adjust its viewing angles. In simple terms, it prevents people sitting next to you from seeing what’s on your screen. Leaker Ice Universe claims the system works by scattering light through “gates” inside the display when voltage is applied. This narrows the visible angle at a hardware level rather than relying on software tricks.
If accurate, that would make it far more advanced than the screen dimming or privacy filter modes we’ve seen before.
Now, another well-known leaker, Digital Chat Station, says other Android manufacturers are preparing to introduce similar hardware-based privacy displays on their own premium devices. The report suggests these could arrive later this year. “Domestic” Chinese brands are first in line.
Based on timing, Xiaomi appears to be the most likely candidate. However, brands such as Honor or Oppo – and by extension OnePlus – could also adopt the technology.
It wouldn’t be the first time Samsung’s display innovations spread quickly across the Android ecosystem. The company supplies panels to many major manufacturers, so breakthrough features often migrate beyond Galaxy devices sooner rather than later.
For users, the appeal is obvious. A hardware-level privacy filter could make reading messages, emails or financial information in public far less awkward. This would be especially useful on large-screen flagship phones.
If the leaks hold up, Samsung’s Privacy Display may not be a Galaxy-exclusive feature for long. It could quietly become one of 2026’s most practical flagship upgrades.
