Xiaomi’s ultra-thin magnetic power bank is getting a global release

Xiaomi will give the Ultrathin Magnetic Power Bank a formal global unveiling at its Barcelona launch event on February 28, expanding availability of a device that first appeared in Japan in January 2026 before reaching a handful of additional markets.

The Barcelona event also serves as the international stage for the Xiaomi Tag and the company’s current flagship phone, positioning the power bank as part of a broader accessories push rather than a standalone product announcement.

At 6mm thick and 98 grams, the Ultrathin Magnetic Power Bank targets a segment of the portable charger market where physical footprint and weight carry more purchasing weight than raw output figures.

Wireless charging tops out at 15W, which falls short of the 25W ceiling introduced by recently released Qi2.2-compatible portable chargers, placing the device below the newest performance tier in the magnetic wireless charging category.

A USB-C port supporting 22.5W wired fast charging covers the alternative route for users who prioritise charging speed over the convenience of wireless, though the single-port configuration leaves no room for simultaneously charging a second device.

The internal battery uses a 5000mAh silicon-carbon cell, a chemistry that allows higher energy density within a thinner form factor compared to conventional lithium-polymer batteries common in similarly priced portable chargers.

A 5000mAh capacity generally covers one full recharge for most mid-range and flagship smartphones, making the power bank better suited as a daily top-up accessory than a multi-device travel solution.

Xiaomi has not detailed which specific regions will gain access following the Barcelona announcement, with full availability information expected to follow the launch event later this month.
