Xiaomi may have more than new hardware to show at MWC 2026.
Alongside the expected global debut of the Xiaomi 17 series, reports suggest the company is preparing to introduce HyperOS 3.1. There will also be a feature called “iOS Bridge” that could significantly improve how Xiaomi devices work with Apple products.
If accurate, this wouldn’t be a routine software update. Instead, HyperOS 3.1 is tipped to focus heavily on cross-platform connectivity. It aims to smooth out some of the friction between Android and Apple ecosystems.
The headline feature, iOS Bridge, is reportedly designed to let Xiaomi devices interact more naturally with iPhones and other Apple hardware. One rumoured addition would allow iPhone call notifications to appear on connected Xiaomi tablets or PCs. As a result, it would be possible to answer or manage calls without picking up the phone itself.
There’s also talk of improved AirPods integration, including battery level visibility and more seamless controls. These features typically work best within Apple’s own ecosystem. A third addition could be direct wireless file sharing between iPhones and Xiaomi devices. Consequently, this could remove the need for third-party apps or cloud workarounds.
If these features land as described, it would mark a notable shift. Android manufacturers have long tried to replicate the kind of tightly integrated experience Apple offers across its devices. However, true system-level interoperability has been harder to achieve – particularly when it involves Apple hardware.
MWC would be a logical place to unveil something like this. Xiaomi is expected to showcase its next flagship lineup in Barcelona. Pairing new phones with a software update focused on ecosystem connectivity would give the announcement extra weight. Furthermore, premium launches often double as platforms for broader software pushes, and HyperOS 3.1 could follow that pattern.
For now, nothing has been officially confirmed. But if Xiaomi does introduce an iOS Bridge, it could make its devices more appealing to users who move between Android and Apple products daily.
