Cambridge Audio has expanded support for Qobuz Connect to its older StreamMagic Gen 2 and Gen 3 streaming products.
This gives long-time owners access to one of the best high-resolution music services without upgrading their hardware.
The rollout follows the arrival of Qobuz Connect on Cambridge’s newer StreamMagic Gen 4 devices. However, this latest over-the-air update brings the feature to a much wider range of models. Supported products now include the StreamMagic 6 V2, CXN, CXR, Azur 851N, CXN V2, and Edge NQ.
For users, the key benefit is control as with Qobuz Connect, you can stream music directly from the Qobuz app to your compatible Cambridge streamer, rather than relying solely on the StreamMagic app. That means a more seamless browsing experience inside Qobuz itself but there’s still the option to use Cambridge’s own interface if preferred.
Qobuz remains one of the strongest choices for audiophiles, offering a catalogue of more than 100 million tracks in up to 24-bit/192kHz high resolution. It also provides CD-quality lossless streaming. Beyond sound quality, the service also leans heavily into music discovery, with curated playlists, artist interviews and long-form editorial content through Qobuz Magazine.
What makes this update notable isn’t just the feature itself, but the hardware it supports. Some of these products are several years old but Cambridge is continuing to add meaningful functionality well past their original release. That long-term software support has become a defining part of the StreamMagic platform.
The Qobuz expansion follows recent additions including Spotify Lossless, Amazon Music and QPlay, reinforcing Cambridge’s push to keep its ecosystem competitive in an increasingly crowded streaming market.
The update is available now and can be installed via the StreamMagic app. For existing owners, it’s a welcome boost — and another reason not to rush out and replace perfectly good kit.
