BenQ has introduced the MA270S, a 27-inch 5K monitor built specifically for Mac users that undercuts the Apple Studio Display’s $1,599 entry price by $600.
The Apple Studio Display has dominated the Mac monitor conversation since its 2022 launch, but its price has kept it out of reach for users who want a native 5K experience without committing to Apple’s own ecosystem.
The MA270S carries a 5120×2880 resolution on a Nano Gloss panel, matching the pixel density of macOS Retina displays to deliver sharp text rendering and image clarity that mirrors the experience of working directly on a MacBook screen.
A 500-nit brightness rating, 99% P3 colour coverage, and a 2000:1 contrast ratio sit behind the display’s colour output, with BenQ’s Mac Color technology and Display Pilot 2 software handling automatic brightness sync, window-based brightness adaptation via FocuSync, and colour unification across multiple connected Apple devices simultaneously.
The iKeyboard Control feature also lets users adjust the monitor’s brightness and volume directly from a MacBook keyboard rather than navigating on-screen display menus, which is a neat little addition.
Meanwhile Thunderbolt 4 with 96W power delivery handles single-cable connection and charging and a Smart KVM switch allows one keyboard and mouse to control two separate systems, covering the multi-device workflows common among Mac Studio and Mac Mini users.
A Picture-by-Picture mode extends that multi-device approach further, allowing simultaneous input from a MacBook and iPad or secondary machine on a single screen.
The BenQ MA270S is available now at £899/$999, with a 20% discount on a second unit available during the pre-order period.
