Disney+ has restored Dolby Vision and 3D support across Europe. This reverses a recent downgrade that removed the premium formats from the platform for over a month.
The issue first surfaced in early February, when users noticed that Dolby Vision had disappeared from supported titles. At the same time, 3D playback was removed on devices like the Apple Vision Pro.
At the time, Disney described the situation as a set of “technical challenges.” However, it has now confirmed the changes were tied to a patent dispute in Germany involving InterDigital.
With that dispute now addressed, Dolby Vision and 3D have returned to affected markets, including the UK and wider European regions. Moreover, independent checks have also verified that both formats are working again on supported devices. This restores the higher-end viewing experience many Premium subscribers expect.
In a statement, Disney acknowledged the disruption and said it moved quickly to resolve the issue. The company also noted that it does not support HDR10+ in Europe.
The temporary removal was significant because Dolby Vision plays a key role in delivering improved contrast, brightness and colour on compatible TVs and devices. Its absence effectively downgraded the viewing experience for users paying for higher-tier subscriptions.
Despite the disruption, Disney has not announced any form of compensation for affected subscribers. Instead, the focus appears to be on restoring normal service and ensuring stability going forward.
If you’re still not seeing Dolby Vision, it’s worth checking that your Disney+ app is updated to the latest version. The restored support may require a recent update to appear properly.
After a short but noticeable absence, Disney+ is back to offering its full visual feature set in Europe. For many viewers, that will make a meaningful difference.
