Poco X8 Pro lands in the UK with flagship-level performance at a far lower price

POCO has brought the X8 Pro to the UK, and while launches like this are nothing new for the brand, this one feels more deliberate in how it pushes flagship-level hardware into a noticeably lower price tier.

What stands out immediately is how much of the conversation around this phone revolves around performance, not just in raw specs, but in how consistently it is designed to handle demanding everyday use.

That matters because the mid-range category has become increasingly crowded, and simply offering a fast chipset is no longer enough to stand out on its own.

Performance is clearly the priority here

The POCO X8 Pro is built around MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500-Ultra platform, which delivers a sizeable jump in both CPU and GPU performance compared to its predecessor, particularly in gaming and multitasking scenarios.

It is not just about peak power either, as POCO is also focusing on sustained performance through its cooling system and software optimisation, aiming to reduce frame drops during longer gaming sessions.

Features like WildBoost optimisation suggest a more aggressive approach to maintaining stable frame rates, especially in graphics-heavy titles where consistency matters just as much as raw speed.

There is also support for hardware-level ray tracing, which is still relatively rare at this price point and hints at how far mid-range devices have come in closing the gap with flagship models.

The pricing is where it becomes hard to ignore

Beyond performance, the X8 Pro leans into endurance with a 6,500mAh battery paired with fast charging, while its aggressively positioned limited-time launch pricing further strengthens its appeal against much of the competition.

From 17 to 31 March 2026, the POCO X8 Pro series drops well below its usual retail pricing in the UK to bring flagship-like specs into a much more accessible bracket.

The POCO X8 Pro Max falls to £399 for the 12GB + 512GB model from £519, or £359 for the 12GB + 256GB version from £469, creating a substantial entry point for high-end performance.

Meanwhile, the POCO X8 Pro starts at £289 for the 8GB + 256GB model, rising to £319 for 8GB + 512GB and £349 for 12GB + 512GB, all reduced from higher standard pricing.

At those levels, the X8 Pro does not just compete in the mid-range category, it actively disrupts it by offering a level of performance that would have comfortably sat in flagship territory not long ago.

The result should be a device that feels less like a compromise and more like a recalibration of what users should expect when they are not paying flagship prices, but we’ll wait until we’ve reviewed the range before we share our thoughts.
