Apple is reportedly preparing a major overhaul of Siri that could give the assistant deeper access to personal data, marking a significant shift in how the company positions its AI features.
According to a Bloomberg report, the upgraded version of Siri is expected to be unveiled at WWDC 2026, with a wider rollout planned later in the year as part of upcoming software updates across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
A more personal and deeply integrated Siri
The new version of Siri is said to be designed as a standalone app on the iPhone, featuring a redesigned interface and chatbot-style interactions that more closely resemble tools like ChatGPT, with support for both typed and spoken requests.
A key change is the assistant’s ability to access personal data across apps, such as emails, notes, and messages, which will supposedly enable Siri to respond to more complex queries by drawing on information stored directly on the user’s device.

This deeper integration is expected to extend across the system, with Siri potentially replacing Spotlight search and offering AI-generated summaries of web content, while also being embedded into apps through dedicated controls for more contextual assistance.
Apple is also reportedly working on features such as “Write with Siri,” allowing users to generate text directly from the keyboard, as well as tools for managing conversations, searching past chats, and uploading files for more detailed interactions.
The assistant is said to rely on a mix of Apple’s own AI models alongside third-party technology, including Google’s Gemini technology.
While the approach could make Siri more capable, the idea of granting an AI assistant access to personal data may raise questions around privacy, especially given Apple’s long-standing focus on keeping user information secure and processed on-device where possible.
For now, we’ll have to wait until WWDC26 to learn more about Apple’s plans for Siri.
