Virgin TV customers are getting a free 4K boost you won’t find on Sky

Virgin Media O2 is giving its TV customers a limited-time upgrade. It’s one that quietly adds something Sky doesn’t currently match in the same way: free UHD content without needing a premium add-on.

Until 12 April, Virgin TV users can tune into the platform’s Ultra HD channels (228 and 999). They can also watch a rotating lineup of films, concerts and documentaries in 4K resolution at no extra cost.

The temporary boost lands just in time for the Easter break and there will be a mix of family-friendly picks and bigger-name titles.

The selection leans broad rather than blockbuster-heavy, but there are some notable inclusions. That includes Us starring Lupita Nyong’o, thriller The Invisible Man with Elisabeth Moss. Additionally, the live-action Playmobil: The Movie features Daniel Radcliffe.

On the TV side, the first season of Cobra Kai is part of the lineup. Additionally, there is music and documentary content like Rolling Stones: Olé Olé Olé.

It’s not just about resolution, either. Virgin says the content will be ad-free during evening broadcasts. Therefore, this makes the experience feel closer to a premium tier without the usual price bump.

This kind of promotion isn’t entirely new for Virgin TV, but it does highlight a growing trend. Platforms use limited-time perks to keep users engaged without locking everything behind subscriptions.

The company has already been expanding its catalogue with over 40 FAST channels. In addition, more recently it confirmed that Sky Atlantic is joining the service for customers with Sky Entertainment from April 1.

For now, though, this UHD push is the main event. It’s a simple win for existing customers – no upgrades, no add-ons, just sharper streaming for a couple of weeks.
