Persistent Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity faults on the Google Pixel 8 Pro have resurfaced following the March 2026 update, with affected users reporting symptoms severe enough to render wireless connectivity unusable even after attempting previously effective workarounds.
Reports of the problem first emerged after the January 2026 update, with two subsequent major updates failing to resolve the underlying fault. This could suggest that the issue traces back to a deeper software or firmware problem rather than a single update introducing a temporary regression.
This is seemingly confirmed by analysis of system logs which points to the Wi-Fi HAL driver failing to detect the network interface presented, which shows the fault sits within firmware rather than the upper software layers that Google’s over-the-air updates typically address.
One Reddit user describes Wi-Fi greying out entirely after the March update, leaving the device unable to list or connect to any access point. Not only that, but both Bluetooth and mobile data have been intermittently affected alongside the Wi-Fi failure in what appears to be a broader connectivity breakdown.
A temperature-dependent pattern has emerged across user reports, with connectivity functioning normally when the device is cold but failing as it reaches normal operating temperatures, a behaviour that has led some users to place their Pixel 8 Pro on an ice pack to temporarily restore Wi-Fi and Bluetooth function.
Google has not acknowledged the issue publicly, and users who have contacted support report being directed away from assistance on the basis that their devices are out of warranty, leaving a significant number of affected Pixel 8 Pro owners without an official resolution path.
The Pixel 8 Pro launched back in October 2023, placing it outside Google’s standard two-year software support window for bug fixes of this nature, a timing detail that partly explains why Google support has cited warranty status when deflecting user complaints rather than committing to a targeted patch.
The breadth of reports across Reddit indicates the problem extends well beyond isolated hardware faults, with many users tracing their connectivity issues back to January rather than the March update, raising questions about the root cause and why successive updates have not addressed it.
