Sony’s next gaming headset may have been fully revealed ahead of schedule.
The Sony Inzone H6 Air has leaked in detail just days before its expected April 14 debut. This gives us a clear look at what could be the brand’s lightest and most unusual Inzone headset yet.
According to well-known leaker Billbil-kun, the H6 Air is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the high-end Inzone H9 II.
However, it’s also doing something different. It’s tipped to be Sony’s first open-back headset in the Inzone lineup, using a perforated aluminium grille to let air and sound flow freely. In practice, that should translate to a wider, more natural soundstage compared to traditional closed-back gaming headsets.
Sony is reportedly borrowing audio tech from its Sony MDR-MV1 headphones, tweaking it for gaming. The result could be a more detailed and spatially accurate experience. This is especially true when paired with 7.1 surround sound processing and 360 Spatial Sound. There’s also mention of custom sound profiles developed alongside PlayStation Studios. These could help with directional audio in competitive titles.
Comfort looks to be a big focus too. The H6 Air is said to weigh just 199g (or 211g with the mic attached), making it the lightest headset in the Inzone range. This is a noticeable drop for long sessions. It also includes a bidirectional boom mic with AI noise reduction, designed to isolate your voice while cutting out background noise. Plus, it has built-in voice monitoring without latency.
Connectivity appears flexible, with USB-C, a USB-C audio box, and a 3.5mm cable all supported. In addition, you get software tuning via the Inzone Hub for EQ and immersive audio settings.
Pricing, according to the leak, lands at around $199 / €199 / £179. This undercuts Sony’s premium models while still packing in some high-end features.
With a full reveal expected imminently, it looks like Sony is experimenting with a more audiophile-friendly approach to gaming audio. If the leak holds up, the Inzone H6 Air could be one of the more interesting headset launches this year.
