Samsung has refreshed its microSD lineup with two new cards, the T7 and T9, and while they’re aimed at very different users, it’s the pricing that immediately stands out.
According to Samsung, this top-tier model is pushing close to the £200 mark.
Leading the charge is the T9 microSD card, built for heavier workloads like gaming, drones and action cameras. It offers read speeds of up to 200MB/s.
This makes it one of Samsung’s fastest cards in this category, alongside what the company calls “6-proof” durability for added reliability. Pricing starts at £60.89 for 128GB. Furthermore, it rises to £193.29 for the 512GB model, putting it firmly in premium territory.
The more mainstream T7 microSD card sits just below it, targeting everyday users, light gamers and casual creators. It still delivers solid performance, with read speeds up to 170MB/s, and comes in capacities ranging from 128GB up to 1TB. That top-end 1TB version is priced at a hefty £303.29. However, smaller capacities are more accessible, starting at £52.39.
Both cards are designed to work across a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops and handheld gaming consoles. They offer an easy way to expand storage without upgrading hardware.
Under the hood, the differences are fairly straightforward. The T9 is built for speed and heavier data workloads, while the T7 focuses on dependable, everyday storage. According to Samsung’s own specs, both support UHS-I speeds (U3, V30, A2). Yet, the T9 pulls ahead with faster sequential read performance.
This launch also marks a shift in Samsung’s naming strategy. The company is moving away from its previous EVO and PRO branding in favour of a simpler “T” lineup — short for “Trustworthiness”. This is aimed at making it easier to pick the right card without digging through specs.
The new T7 and T9 microSD cards are available from April 14, 2026, though pricing and availability may vary depending on the region.
For buyers, the choice is pretty clear: the T7 covers the basics. Meanwhile, the T9 is for anyone who needs faster transfers and is willing to pay for it.
