The new Honor 600 wants to steal Google’s crown – but you probably can’t buy it yet

Honor has just unveiled its new Honor 600 series. However, it’s launching in Malaysia first, with a wider UK and EU release still expected sometime in the near future.

That means this could be one to watch if you’re eyeing the next wave of mid-range Android phones and are tempted by the likes of the Google Pixel 10a and Samsung Galaxy A57.

At a glance, the Honor 600 and 600 Pro look like classic “accessible flagships”. These are phones that try to pack premium features without the associated flagship pricing. The standard model starts at RM2,599 in Malaysia, while the Pro tops out at RM3,299, undercutting many high-end rivals.

The big sell here is imaging. Both models feature a 200MP main camera with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor. On top of that, the Pro adds a 50MP telephoto lens with up to 120x zoom and what Honor claims is class-leading stabilisation, along with a Night Engine designed to preserve colour and avoid blown-out highlights in low light.

This is something Google’s Pixel phones have long been known for, and with minimal camera changes on this year’s mid-range 10a, it could be prime time for Honor to swoop in with some comparatively high-end tech.

Honor is also leaning heavily into AI. The headline feature, AI Image to Video 2.0, lets users turn still photos into short video clips using prompts, templates and even multiple images stitched together. It’s clearly aimed at the same crowd already experimenting with generative tools, though it is trying to make that feel native on a phone rather than relying on apps.

Performance is another area where the Pro, in particular, steps up. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, marking the first time Honor’s N-series has used a top-tier chip. The standard Honor 600 drops to a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which should still be plenty for day-to-day use.

Elsewhere, the spec sheet reads like a checklist of 2026 trends: a 120Hz display with retina-burning 8,000-nit peak brightness, a massive 7,000mAh battery, and IP69-rated durability. Fast charging is covered too, with 80W wired speeds across both models. As an extra, wireless charging is reserved for the Pro.

Pre-orders in Malaysia are already live ahead of an April 30 release, bundled with freebies and discounts. For everyone else, though, this is more of a preview.

If Honor sticks the landing with its wider rollout, the 600 series could be a serious alternative to the usual Pixel and Samsung picks. For now, it’s one you’ll have to wait for.
