LEGO could be adding another iconic games console to its growing retro lineup. New leaks suggest a brick-built PlayStation 1 is currently in the works for a late 2026 release.
According to reports from established LEGO leakers DarthBeardBrix and TheBrickNews, the set is expected to launch sometime between October and December 2026.
The rumoured model, titled Sony PlayStation 1 Console, is said to contain 1,911 pieces. It is also reported to include a PlayStation controller. Additionally, it will carry a price tag of $159 / €159.
While LEGO has yet to officially confirm the project, the reported specifications suggest this could be one of the company’s most ambitious gaming-themed console recreations to date.
At 1,911 pieces, the set would be significantly larger than LEGO’s Sega Genesis. That was launched with 479 pieces. However, it would still fall short of the hefty Nintendo Entertainment System set. That packed 2,646 pieces and a buildable CRT television.
The leak follows years of interest from fans hoping to see Sony’s original console receive the LEGO treatment. A fan-made PlayStation 1 model by AirBricks95 previously attracted more than 10,000 supporters on the LEGO Ideas platform. As a result, it earned a review from LEGO’s design team. It’s unclear whether that project has any connection to the rumoured retail set.
Beyond the basic details, there is little information about what the final build might include. However, fans are already speculating about interactive features. They have hopes for working buttons, an opening disc tray, or other nods to the original 1994 console.
If the reports prove accurate, the PlayStation 1 would join a growing collection of LEGO gaming hardware. This collection already includes the NES, Atari 2600, Sega Genesis and the recently released Game Boy.
For now, there are no official images, box art, or product descriptions. However, with multiple reliable community sources pointing towards the same launch window, the prospect of building Sony’s first home console out of LEGO bricks is starting to look increasingly realistic.
