Triangle has unveiled its new Solstice speaker range, marking the end of an era for one of the company’s longest-running audio line-ups.
The French hi-fi specialist says Solstice replaces the popular Esprit series. The Esprit series has been a mainstay of its speaker catalogue for more than three decades. Unlike previous Esprit updates, Triangle describes Solstice as a complete redesign. The new series features new drivers, a redesigned tweeter, revised cabinets and an entirely new base system.
The launch line-up consists of three models: the Solstice 8 floorstanding speaker, Solstice 3 bookshelf speaker and Solstice C3 centre-channel speaker. All three share the same design language and core technologies making them suitable for both stereo listening and home cinema setups.
Consequently, much of the development effort appears to have focused on improving clarity and consistency. Triangle has created a new horn-loaded tweeter for the range. This is designed to deliver a wider listening sweet spot and more even sound dispersion throughout a room. Moreover, the company has also developed new cellulose-pulp drivers. Additionally, it has introduced a revised cabinet structure intended to reduce unwanted vibrations and colouration.
The flagship Solstice 8 receives some additional attention. Alongside its three-way driver configuration, it features a new integrated base that combines vibration isolation, a hidden bass-reflex port and a slight rearward tilt. This is designed to better align the tweeter with seated listeners.
Visually, the new range adopts a more premium appearance than its predecessor, with rounded cabinet edges, colour-matched magnetic grilles and finishes including Teak, Birch, White and Black Ash.
Pricing starts at £999 per pair for the Solstice 3 bookshelf speakers, rising to £1,999 per pair for the Solstice 8 floorstanders. The Solstice C3 centre speaker is priced at £579 each.
