Alexa for Shopping just became much more useful

Amazon is making its AI shopping assistant more useful, with Alexa for Shopping now able to handle over 100 shopping-related tasks, including managing subscriptions, checking refunds and sorting out billing queries without having to dig through the app’s settings.

The update builds on Alexa for Shopping, which Amazon introduced earlier this year, and expands its capabilities beyond helping customers find products. Instead, users can now ask Alexa to take care of everyday shopping tasks through simple conversations, making it easier to manage orders and account details without navigating multiple menus.

One of the biggest additions is the ability to manage Amazon Subscribe & Save deliveries. For example, if you’ve stocked up on household essentials and don’t need another delivery just yet, you can ask Alexa to skip the next shipment, pause a subscription or change how frequently an item arrives. The assistant can also create shopping and wish lists, add products and help users keep track of what they still need to buy.

Alexa can now help with billing and account queries too. Customers can ask about unfamiliar charges, check their gift card balance or find out what’s happening with a delayed refund. It can also help update delivery instructions, track orders and check available Prime membership benefits, bringing several common customer service tasks into one place.

It’s a useful change for anyone who regularly shops on Amazon, particularly when dealing with the less straightforward parts of online shopping. Rather than searching through order histories or subscription settings, customers can simply explain what they need and let Alexa handle the request.

For now, the expanded Alexa for Shopping features are available to all Amazon customers in the US. Users can access the assistant by tapping the Alexa icon in the Amazon Shopping app or through the top of Amazon’s desktop website.

The update is rolling out now, giving Alexa a more practical role in managing purchases rather than simply helping customers decide what to buy.
