Sky Glass and Stream users are getting a very early Christmas present

Sky is rolling out a fresh batch of upgrades to Sky Glass and Sky Stream, with the latest Sky OS update adding smarter controls, cleaner navigation and a wider set of accessibility tools. The changes should be arriving as of today and are available to all customers.

One of the most useful additions is programme reminders, which can now be set directly from any showpage in the TV guide.

Once enabled, a notification pops up at the top of the screen the moment the programme begins, ideal for live sports, finales, or anything you don’t want to miss. For football fans, it’s essentially a built-in pre-match whistle.

The update also introduces a new digital Sky remote app for iOS and Android. It mirrors the core functions of the physical remote, letting users browse the TV guide, jump into apps, switch channels and control playback from their phone.

Screen reader support is built in, offering an easier way for some users to navigate without relying on the physical remote at all.

Sky has also streamlined the way customers access system controls. Settings now sit in the quick access menu, reachable by pressing the three dots on the Sky remote and scrolling right. Picture and sound settings, parental controls and accessibility options are all a single step closer than before.

Accessibility sees the biggest lift in this update. Voice guidance now offers adjustable reading speeds across the main UI and several major apps, including Sky Sports+, Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and Sky Store. High-contrast mode can be toggled across Sky apps for clearer text separation, while a new magnification tool lets users zoom in up to 400% and use number keys to pan across the screen.

Sky is also expanding Audio Description to on-demand content. Previously available on Sky broadcast channels, it’s now rolling out to Sky Cinema and Sky Entertainment titles as well, a key improvement for visually impaired viewers.

With these changes, Sky is adding meaningful quality-of-life improvements across the board, making Sky Glass and Stream easier to control, quicker to navigate, and more accessible for a wider range of users.
