LG’s upcoming Micro RGB evo is already winning awards

LG hasn’t waited for CES 2026 to make its intentions clear.

Ahead of the show, the company has revealed the LG Micro RGB evo, its most advanced LCD TV to date, and one that’s already picked up a CES 2026 Innovation Award before officially hitting the show floor.

At a glance, the Micro RGB evo looks like LG’s answer to the growing pressure on premium LCD TVs to close the gap with OLED. Rather than leaning further into Mini LED, LG is introducing Micro RGB Technology, which uses extremely small, individually controlled red, green and blue LEDs to achieve far more precise colour reproduction than traditional backlight systems.

Powering the display is LG’s upgraded α (Alpha) 11 AI Processor Gen 3, borrowed from its high-end OLED lineup. The result, according to LG, is a level of colour accuracy that goes beyond what we typically expect from LCD panels.

The Micro RGB evo boasts 100% coverage of BT.2020, DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB, a claim that’s been independently certified by Intertek, and one that positions this TV squarely at enthusiasts and professional-grade viewers.

Contrast is another major focus. With Micro Dimming Ultra and more than 1,000 dimming zones, LG is promising deeper blacks and tighter light control than conventional MiniLED sets, without some of the brightness limitations that still affect OLED in very bright rooms. It’s a familiar balancing act, but one LG seems keen to refine rather than reinvent.

On the software side, the TV runs webOS, enhanced with features like AI Concierge and Voice ID, allowing the interface to adapt to individual viewers’ preferences and habits. It’s a reminder that LG sees picture quality and personalisation as equally essential pillars of its premium TV strategy.

The LG Micro RGB evo will be available in 100-inch, 86-inch and 75-inch sizes, making it clear this is a flagship product designed to dominate living rooms, and potentially CES headlines. With an Innovation Award already under its belt, LG’s next-generation LCD is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched TV launches of 2026.
