Meta is rolling out a new software update for its AI-powered smart glasses in Europe, bringing expanded language support, smarter music controls, and new fitness-focused features to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta devices.
The update began rolling out on December 16, with features becoming available gradually over the coming days.
The latest update focuses on making Meta’s AI glasses feel more natural to use in everyday situations, particularly for music playback, hands-free control, and workouts.
While some features remain limited to English at launch, the update marks a meaningful step toward broader European localisation.
New music controls, shortcuts, and personalised workouts
One of the biggest changes is expanded language support for music-related voice commands.
Users in Europe can now control Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other services using voice commands in French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese, making it easier to manage playback hands-free without switching to English.
Meta is also introducing its first multimodal AI music experience through a feature called Look & Play. Powered by Meta AI and Spotify, the feature lets users look at a scene and say, “Hey Meta, play a song to match this view.”
For now, Look & Play is available in English only, but it represents a notable shift toward more context-aware AI experiences.

Instead of saying “Hey Meta,” users can trigger actions like taking a photo or starting music with a single word, making it easier to use the glasses during activities like running or cycling.
Fitness features are also expanding. Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses wearers can now create personalised running and cycling workouts using voice commands when their glasses are paired with a compatible Garmin device.
Commands like setting pace-based runs or timed bike sessions can be created on the fly. While initially supported on Oakley Meta Vanguard, the feature is also coming to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses, again launching in English.
Meta says the update reflects its ongoing effort to make AI wearables more helpful, accessible, and seamlessly integrated into daily life, particularly for music, fitness, and hands-free interaction across Europe.
