Samsung’s next flagship phones may arrive later than usual.
According to a new report, the Galaxy S26 series is now expected to be released in mid-March, marking Samsung’s latest Galaxy S release in several years.
As reported by Dealabs, Samsung is targeting a March 11 release date for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra in France. That would follow a launch event scheduled for February 26, taking place at 7pm local time in France (12pm ET / 9am PT).
While regional release dates can vary, France often aligns with the US, other European markets, and Korea, suggesting that March 11 could be the global rollout date.
If accurate, this would be a noticeable shift from Samsung’s recent launch cadence.
The Galaxy S25 series arrived on February 7, 2025, while the Galaxy S24 and S23 landed at the end of January and mid-February respectively. A March 11 release would make the Galaxy S26 the latest Galaxy S launch since the Galaxy S9 in 2018, which arrived on March 16.

The delay appears to stem from ongoing changes to Samsung’s flagship strategy. Earlier plans reportedly involved a three-model lineup built around the Ultra, a smaller “Pro” variant, and a Galaxy S26 Edge.
That approach was later scrapped, with Samsung reviving the Plus model after dropping both the Pro branding and the Edge, following underwhelming performance from the Galaxy S25 Edge and renewed competition from Apple.
Those internal changes are said to have pushed back development timelines, leaving Samsung unusually quiet at a point in the year when a Galaxy S launch would normally be imminent. There are also suggestions that Apple’s decision to hold iPhone 17 pricing steady led Samsung to rethink certain hardware upgrades, including camera improvements.
For now, Samsung hasn’t confirmed any dates. But if the report holds, the Galaxy S26 series looks set to arrive later than fans have come to expect — and much closer to spring than winter.
