Keychron has unveiled two new wireless low-profile keyboards, the K3 HE and K3 Ultra, both launching on 12 February with rosewood accents and gaming-focused features.
Building on the success of the K2 HE, the brand has blended design cues from its recent line-up into these slimmer models. The K3 HE introduces Hall effect sensors for advanced customisation, while the K3 Ultra opts for mechanical Milk POM switches, LSA keycaps, and an unusually high 8K polling rate.
The two keyboards share portability as a core focus, but they diverge in technical execution. The K3 Ultra’s mechanical design supports an unusually high 8K polling rate, which may appeal to competitive gamers seeking ultra-fast response times, although its Hall effect sibling tops out at 1 kHz.
The K3 HE compensates with deeper customisation, allowing users to fine-tune actuation depth and input behaviour in ways mechanical switches cannot. This makes it particularly attractive for enthusiasts who value granular control over keystroke performance.
Speculation around specifications suggests both models will likely use the ABS bottom case seen in earlier HE Special Edition keyboards.
The K3 HE is expected to support compatibility with universal low-profile Hall effect switches, including Gateron Magnetic Jade Pro and TTC KOM switches, giving buyers flexibility to swap components without being locked into proprietary options.
The Ultra-Fast Lime low-profile switches, tipped to feature north-pole magnets, are estimated to have a travel distance between 2.8 mm and 3.5 mm, though Keychron has yet to confirm exact figures. By contrast, the Milk POM switches used in the K3 Ultra are already known to deliver a smooth typing experience with a total travel of 3.1 mm.
Pricing remains under wraps, with Keychron only confirming a $3 reservation fee for early bird access. Given the brand’s track record, UK buyers can expect competitive pricing aligned with its existing HE and Ultra ranges.
The official launch on 12 February will provide clarity on final specifications and retail costs.
