Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold reportedly sold out in the US shortly after launch, despite its $2,899 price tag.
After years of rumours and leaks, Samsung released its first tri-folding smartphone in the States in late January, positioning it as the most ambitious and expensive foldable in its lineup to date.
Reporting from The Chosun Daily suggests Samsung shipped “thousands” of units in its initial US run, roughly matching the volume made available in Korea during the December launch.
Even with a higher US price compared to the Korean market where the device sells for roughly ₩3.6 million, or around $2,500, Samsung exhausted stock across both online channels and its limited physical retail locations.
Samsung’s US store page now allows customers to sign up for email notifications which indicate that current inventory has been fully depleted.
Restock expected in February
The same report suggests Samsung plans to restock the Galaxy Z TriFold in the US later in February, though it does not specify an exact date.
If accurate, that timeline leaves only a short window before Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event, which industry watchers expect to take place around February 25.

A restock ahead of the expected Galaxy S26 pre-order period would keep attention on Samsung’s foldable lineup as it prepares to refresh its mainstream flagship phones.
The sellout signals sustained demand for high-end foldables, even as pricing climbs well above traditional flagship territory.
Samsung has not disclosed exact sales figures, but the rapid sell-through of thousands of units suggests the TriFold has attracted early adopters willing to pay a premium for the new form factor.
The Z TriFold marks Samsung’s first commercial tri-fold smartphone, expanding beyond the book-style and clamshell foldables that have defined its lineup in recent years.
The Galaxy Z TriFold now sits alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7, marking Samsung’s move toward offering distinct premium foldables across different screen sizes.
While the price remains a barrier for many buyers, early demand indicates that novelty and expanded screen flexibility continue to drive interest in experimental foldable designs.
Samsung has not confirmed how many units it plans to allocate in the next shipment, or whether supply constraints will ease later this year.
