Xiaomi has confirmed it’s about to enter the item-tracking market, with the Xiaomi Tag set to launch on February 28, 2026 in Barcelona.
The device is positioned as an affordable alternative to Apple’s AirTag, and is set to debut alongside the company’s upcoming flagship phone at the same event.
While Xiaomi hasn’t shared a full spec sheet yet, the tracker has already leaked via an accidental listing on Xiaomi France. This leak gives a fairly complete picture of what to expect.
The Xiaomi Tag weighs just 10 grams and measures 7.2mm thick, making it comparable in size to most mainstream trackers. It reportedly runs on a CR2032 battery, the same replaceable coin cell used in the Apple AirTag. This should make maintenance straightforward.
Compatibility appears to be one of its bigger selling points. According to earlier leaks, the tracker will support both Apple’s Find My network and Google’s Find Hub. This makes it one of the few cross-platform options in a space that’s often ecosystem-locked.
There is, however, one notable omission. The initial version of the Xiaomi Tag will not include Ultra Wideband (UWB) support. This means it won’t offer the same precision finding capabilities as newer AirTag models. Xiaomi is reportedly planning a UWB-equipped version for later. For now, this looks like a more straightforward Bluetooth-based tracker.
Price could be where Xiaomi makes its biggest impact. The leaked listing suggests an EU price of €17.99 (around $21), undercutting most major rivals. Final global pricing and availability details are expected to be confirmed at the Barcelona launch event.
With cross-platform support and a lower entry price, the Xiaomi Tag could appeal to users who want basic tracking without committing fully to one ecosystem. The real test, though, will be how well it performs in everyday use. We’ll find out soon enough.
