Pixel’s March Drop is full of welcome features

Google’s March Pixel Drop is rolling out now. It brings a wave of AI tools, personalisation tweaks and safety upgrades across Pixel phones and watches.

As with previous drops, the updates will arrive in phases over the next few weeks. However, there’s plenty here worth paying attention to.

One of the headline upgrades expands Circle to Search. Pixel 10 users can now use multi-object recognition to identify several items in a single image. This works whether that’s plants in a garden, dishes in a bento box or every piece of an outfit spotted online. Shopping gets smarter too: you can select an eligible product and tap the new “Try It On” button to preview it using your own photo or a model, directly within search results.

Google is also leaning harder into Gemini. Inside the Gemini app (currently in beta), the assistant can now complete tasks across supported apps in the background. This ranges from ordering groceries to booking rides. It lets you monitor or cancel actions as needed. Meanwhile, Magic Cue suggests restaurant recommendations in the middle of a group chat. It opens a Gemini-powered results window without forcing you to leave the conversation.

Elsewhere, Now Playing has become a standalone app. It gives you a clearer history of recognised songs and a quick route to open them in your preferred streaming service. The At a Glance widget is expanding too. It adds transit updates, live sports scores and Google Finance tracking.

Personalisation also gets a boost. You can now apply AI-generated icon styles across your home screen for a unified look. There’s also a new SpongeBob SquarePants theme pack for something more playful.

On the safety front, Scam Detection in the Phone app is expanding to several new regions, including France, Germany and Japan. Meanwhile, India gains Call Notes, which records and transcribes conversations for later review.

Pixel Watch users aren’t left out. The watch can now automatically lock your phone if you move out of range and alert you if you leave it behind. Find Hub lets you ring nearby devices from your wrist.

Additionally, new one-handed gestures — including double pinch — expand to Pixel Watch 3. Earthquake alerts and wider Satellite SOS availability round out the update.
