Leica cameras are about to get (even) more expensive

Leica has announced a price increase across several of its camera systems. The changes will take effect from March 13, 2026.

The adjustment affects a range of products spanning the company’s M, SL and Q lines. However, the increases vary depending on the specific model.

The biggest jumps are coming to Leica’s iconic M-series cameras. Both digital and analogue bodies will rise by roughly $500 to $900, depending on the model and finish. The recently launched M EV1, however, will see a smaller bump of around $295.

The Q lineup is also being adjusted. Colour versions of the Q3 are set to increase by about $600. Meanwhile, the Q3 Monochrom will see a far more modest rise of roughly $160.

Lens pricing is changing, too

Lens pricing is changing too, although the increases are generally smaller. Most M lenses are expected to climb somewhere between $100 and $500, depending on the specific optic. Still, a handful of models will remain unchanged.

Things are a little steadier in Leica’s SL system. The SL3 and SL3-S camera bodies are unaffected by the adjustment. In addition, price increases for SL lenses are relatively modest — usually under $200. These only apply to about half of the lineup.

Price rises like this aren’t unusual for Leica. The company has historically introduced incremental adjustments every few years as production costs, exchange rates and the price of precision manufacturing continue to climb. Furthermore, many Leica products are still hand-assembled and produced in smaller volumes. Even small shifts can push retail pricing upward.

The good news is that Leica is giving buyers a short window to act. Current pricing will remain available until March 13, meaning anyone considering a purchase still has a couple of weeks to buy at the existing price. This only applies while stock lasts.

For a brand that already sits at the top of the camera market, the increases won’t suddenly make Leica gear cheap. However, if you’ve been thinking about adding a new body or lens to your kit, it might be worth moving sooner rather than later.
