Boox has launched its new Go 10.3 (Gen II) series, adding a key feature that brings it closer to rivals like the Amazon Kindle Scribe — built-in front lighting.
The lineup includes two models: the standard Go 10.3 (Gen II) and the Lumi version. The main difference is simple but important. The standard model skips front lighting entirely, sticking with a more paper-like experience under natural light.
Meanwhile, the Lumi adds adjustable dual-tone front lights for reading and writing in darker environments, a feature that was previously missing from Boox’s more minimal tablets.
Both versions use a 10.3-inch monochrome E Ink display with a sharp 300 PPI resolution, and they’re also impressively thin, measuring just 4.6mm (or 4.8mm for the Lumi) despite packing a 3700mAh battery. Boox says the battery can last weeks on a single charge with light use.
The focus here is clearly on distraction-free productivity. Each tablet ships with the InkSense Plus stylus, offering 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt support, and writing tools such as Lasso, Tags, and Outlines. This should make it easier to organise notes, sketches, and longer documents.
Under the hood, the Go 10.3 (Gen II) runs Android 15. This gives users access to the Google Play Store alongside Boox’s own NeoReader app, supporting 26 file formats, and it comes with 64GB of storage. As a result, it is positioned as a flexible option for reading, note-taking, and light productivity, while avoiding the usual distractions of a traditional tablet.
The addition of front lighting on the Lumi model feels like the biggest shift this time around. It brings the Go series more in line with devices like the Kindle Scribe, which already offer built-in illumination for all-day use, while keeping Boox’s more open Android-based approach intact.
The Boox Go 10.3 (Gen II) starts at £399.99 / $399.99, while the Lumi version with front lighting comes in slightly higher at £429.99 / $449.99.
