Where are the next Apple TV and HomePod Mini updates?

Apple might have just dropped a bunch of new hardware but two familiar names are still missing in action.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the next Apple TV 4K and HomePod Mini have actually been “ready” for a while. Apple just isn’t shipping them yet.

The hold-up? It sounds like it’s to do with software, not hardware. Apple is reportedly waiting for its next-gen, more personalised Siri which is part of its broader Apple Intelligence push. Only then will Apple bring the new devices to market. In other words, these updates are tied less to specs and more to what Apple’s AI features can actually do.

There are signs something is brewing, though. Stock of the current Apple TV, HomePod Mini and even the full-sized HomePod is reportedly running low in Apple Stores. That often hints at incoming refreshes – even if timing is still unclear.

Right now, the best guess is that everything hinges on upcoming iOS releases. The upgraded Siri features are expected to land with either iOS 26.5 or iOS 27. With this in mind, we can expect a potential launch window anywhere between late March and September.

As for what’s new, leaks suggest the next Apple TV could pack the A17 Pro chip, the baseline for Apple Intelligence. It should also have improved connectivity with Wi-Fi 7 and Thread support. The HomePod Mini, however, is tipped to get the newer S-series chip which is similar to Apple Watch, alongside better sound, upgraded Ultra Wideband and possibly even new colours.

Both devices are due a refresh. The current Apple TV 4K landed in 2022, while the HomePod Mini dates all the way back to 2020.

For now, it’s a waiting game but this looks less like a delay, and more like Apple lining everything up around its next big Siri upgrade.
