Cambridge Audio has introduced the CXN100 SE music streamer alongside a limited-edition CX Black series, expanding its CX lineup with updated connectivity and a new finish that aligns with growing demand for modernised hi-fi systems.
The launch combines a refreshed version of an existing streamer with a visual redesign of established components, reflecting how hi-fi brands increasingly update both functionality and aesthetics to match contemporary listening environments.
CXN100 SE introduces expanded connectivity
The CXN100 SE builds on the existing CXN100 platform while adding HDMI eARC support, allowing users to route television audio directly through a hi-fi system without requiring separate soundbars or additional audio hardware.
This addition places the device within a category of hybrid audio components that bridge music streaming and home entertainment, as users look to consolidate listening and viewing audio into a single system.
The streamer operates on Cambridge Audio’s StreamMagic platform, supporting services such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music, and Qobuz, alongside wireless standards including AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Bluetooth.
An ESS ES9028Q2M DAC handles digital-to-analogue conversion, a configuration commonly used in higher-end audio components where low distortion and accurate signal reproduction remain central priorities for dedicated listening setups.
The CXN100 SE also includes physical inputs such as USB, coaxial, and optical connections, alongside balanced and unbalanced outputs, allowing it to integrate into a wide range of existing hi-fi systems without requiring significant changes to setup.
CX Black series introduces a limited-edition finish
Alongside the new streamer, Cambridge Audio has released a CX Black series that applies a matte black finish to the CXA81 Mk II integrated amplifier and CXC CD transport, maintaining the same performance while updating the visual design.
This limited-edition finish reflects a broader trend in hi-fi design, where manufacturers offer alternative colourways to better match modern interiors that favour darker tones over traditional silver or grey equipment.
The CXA81 Mk II delivers 80 watts per channel and functions as the central amplifier within the system, while the CXC CD transport focuses on accurate digital signal extraction for users who continue to rely on physical media.
Together, the CXN100 SE, CXA81 Mk II, and CXC form a cohesive system that supports streaming, television audio, and CD playback within a unified setup, reflecting continued demand for flexible all-in-one hi-fi solutions.
The CX Black range and CXN100 SE will be available from April 2026 through Cambridge Audio and approved retailers, with pricing set at £899 for the CXN100 SE, £999 for the CXA81 Mk II, and £499 for the CXC.
