Samsung’s AirDrop support appears in more regions – but not the US

Samsung is wasting no time rolling out its new cross-platform sharing feature. However, if you’re in the US, you’re still on the sidelines for now.

Just days after confirming AirDrop-style support for the Galaxy S26, the update is already spreading beyond South Korea into Europe and India, according to reports. The feature arrives via an update to Samsung’s Quick Share. It also brings a new “Share with Apple Devices” toggle. Consequently, this allows Galaxy users to send files directly to iPhones and other Apple gear.

For those in supported regions, the rollout comes as part of a new software build (version AZCF). It’s switched on by default once installed. There’s also a splash screen explaining how it works. Additionally, there are manual controls in settings. One small catch: you’ll need to make sure Google Play Services is fully updated for everything to function properly.

US users, however, will need to wait a little longer. Samsung hasn’t given a firm release date for North America. Nevertheless, the staggered rollout suggests it should land soon, likely within days rather than weeks. Even so, early adopters might not get it immediately.

The update is a bigger deal than it might sound. While Quick Share has existed for years as Samsung’s answer to AirDrop, this version leans on Google’s newer cross-platform sharing system.

Importantly, this means it finally bridges the gap between Android and Apple devices. So far, only a handful of devices support it, including Google’s Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 lineups. As a result, the Galaxy S26 is one of the first Samsung phones to join the club.

In short, Samsung is inching closer to solving one of the most frustrating gaps between ecosystems, it’s just not quite everywhere yet.
