One of our favourite vacuum brands here at Trusted has launched a new model designed for smaller homes who don’t want to compromise on power.
Joining the Shark PowerDetect cordless vacuum range in the UK is a lighter new option, with the 3.5kg PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System which boasts automated dirt detection and a hands-free dock.
As mentioned, this lighter iteration is for homes where storage space is limited and cleaning tools need to balance performance with practicality. It’s essentially a more compact alternative within Shark’s existing PowerDetect line, rather than a stripped-back version of the same concept.
Shark explains the vacuum uses its PowerDetect Intelligence system which allows the machine to automatically respond to changing conditions instead of relying on users to manually switch settings between rooms and surfaces.

That PowerDetect system includes Dirt Detect, which increases suction in high-traffic areas, and Edge Detect to boost power around walls and corners – areas that are notoriously difficult to reach.
Reveal Technology adds another layer by using angled illumination to make dust more visible on hard floors, while Floor Detect adjusts brushroll speed when the vacuum moves between surface types to keep performance more consistent across mixed flooring.
Shark also includes Direction Detect, which allows the vacuum to collect debris during both forward and reverse passes, a feature designed to reduce repeated movements and help reduce cleaning time in spaces where quick, efficient passes matter more than deep manual control.
Beyond detection, Shark pairs the system with a TurboPro Detect brushroll for deeper agitation and more precise debris pickup, while a self-cleaning brushroll addresses hair wrap to prevent the nightmare task of having to cut out tangled hair from the tool.
Shark has also fitted the vacuum with a Flexology wand that can bend under furniture and reach tighter spaces too. Remember, all of this is packed into a compact, 3.5kg package.
Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System, which includes an auto-empty dock that holds up to 45 days worth of debris, is available now through Shark, Amazon and other retailers in the UK for £499.99, placing it in the premium cordless category where convenience features increasingly justify higher prices alongside raw cleaning performance.
