A stunning iPhone redesign could be here to celebrate the next big milestone

Apple’s long-rumoured all-screen iPhone isn’t dead, but it’s clearly taking its time.

Fresh leaks suggest the company is still working towards a fully uninterrupted display for its 20th anniversary model. However, technical hurdles continue to slow things down.

According to regular leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple is actively testing under-display camera tech as part of a broader push to eliminate visible cutouts entirely. The end goal is an iPhone with no notch and no Dynamic Island. The vision is just a seamless slab of glass.

That lines up with earlier reporting from Mark Gurman. He previously said Apple was targeting a 2027 redesign with an “all-glass” design and no display interruptions. More recent leaks, however, suggest that vision will arrive in stages rather than one big leap.

For now, the Dynamic Island isn’t going anywhere just yet. Display analyst Ross Young has said a smaller version of the cutout could stick around through at least 2027. Meanwhile, other sources claim Apple is still struggling to fully hide Face ID components under the screen.

Instead, Apple’s roadmap appears to be gradual. We could see some Face ID elements move under the display first. They may be paired with a reduced cutout or hole-punch camera in upcoming Pro models, likely starting with the iPhone 18 series. From there, the company is expected to keep shrinking the visible hardware until it can remove it entirely.

The real prize, though, seems to be a special anniversary iPhone. The same leaks point to a more ambitious design featuring a quad-curved display that wraps around all four edges. This would push the idea of a borderless phone even further.

That said, getting there won’t be easy. Under-display cameras and sensors still struggle with image quality and reliability, two things Apple typically refuses to compromise on.
