Apple’s long-rumoured anniversary iPhone is starting to take shape, at least on paper.
A new leak suggests the 2027 model could arrive with a fully rounded design and a much smaller Dynamic Island. This hints at one of the biggest visual overhauls in years.
According to posts from leaker @phonefuturist, the so-called 20th anniversary iPhone may feature a curved metal chassis that blends seamlessly into the display. This would create a “quad-curved” look. The aim appears to be a more fluid, edge-to-edge design.
One detail that stands out is the mention of a “1.1mm frame”. While that likely doesn’t refer to the physical thickness of the phone’s body, it could point to a much tighter transition between the screen and chassis. Essentially, this pushes Apple closer to that all-screen aesthetic it’s been chasing for years.
The front-facing camera is where things get a bit more interesting. Apple is said to have explored under-display camera tech, similar to what we’ve seen from Samsung. However, Apple reportedly wasn’t satisfied with the image quality. Instead, the company may stick with the Dynamic Island, just in a significantly smaller form. This is even compared to what’s expected on the iPhone 18 Pro.
That decision lines up with Apple’s usual approach: prioritising camera performance over going fully invisible. A reduced Dynamic Island could be a compromise that keeps Face ID and selfie quality intact. At the same time, it would still shrink its footprint.
There is some outside support for at least part of this rumour. Display analyst Ross Young has previously suggested Apple is experimenting with curved glass designs. This would back up the idea of a more rounded chassis. Still, this particular leak comes from a relatively unproven source, so it’s worth taking the finer details with a pinch of salt.
It’s also early. With the anniversary iPhone still more than a year away, Apple’s plans could easily shift before anything is finalised.
