TCL expands QLED range with new Google and Fire TV models

TCL has widened its UK TV lineup with a fresh batch of QLED models, giving buyers more choice with new Google and Fire TV models.

The new range includes Google TV-powered sets in the form of the P8L and P7L. It also includes the more affordable Fire TV-based V6D series.

Now, whether you’re deep into Google’s ecosystem or prefer Amazon’s Fire TV experience, there is an option to choose from when it comes to TCL’s QLED TVs.

At the top end the QLED range is the P8L series, which leans into performance. It combines Mini LED backlight with Quantum Dot colours, with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and a 144Hz refresh rate.

There’s also a heavy focus placed on gaming with the aforementioned refresh rate alongside HDMI 2.1 inputs, ALLM and TCL’s Game Master features. Furthermore, the refresh rates can be boosted to 288Hz with TCL’s Game Accelerator mode. Sizes range from 55- to 85-inches with prices starting at £649.

Step down to the P7L, and you get a 4K QLED panel which is claimed to cover up to 93% of the DCI-P3 colour space, but in comes TCL’s HVA display tech for improved contrast and colour efficiency. You get Google TV, built-in Google Assistant support, and HDMI 2.1 inputs with audio provided by speakers made by Onkyo. As the P7L is the step down model, prices are lower starting at £399 for the 43-inch model.

Then there’s the V6D Fire TV series, which is clearly aimed at budget-conscious buyers. It sticks with 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos, while integrating Fire TV and Alexa for voice control. Gaming features like VRR and ALLM are still here, but the overall package is more about simplicity than outright performance. Pricing starts at £379.

TCL is also continuing to push its C6K Mini LED range, which sits slightly above the entry-level models with Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ and a built-in Onkyo 2.1 sound system. The C6KS, which is the UK specific model name, won our best affordable TV in 2025.

Across the board, the big takeaway is choice. TCL isn’t just expanding screen sizes or specs. Instead, it’s doubling down on platform options and price tiers. This makes it easier to find a TV that fits both your setup and your budget.

Opinion

TCL continues its assault on the budget market with these new Google and Fire TV QLED models, offering consumers plenty of choice and features at a more than reasonable price.

But on the subject of QLED, TCL was found earlier in 2026 in a German court of deceiving customers about which TVs offered a true QLED performance. It was subsequently banned from marketing certain models as QLED.

Samsung has been leading a campaign to highlight the lack of ‘true’ Quantum Dot panels in TCL’s TVs and while TCL disputes the judgement laid out in German court, it’s a win for Samsung in terms of creating a public perception about TCL’s QLED TVs.

The question is does it sow a sense of doubt and mistrust about TCL’s QLED models and will this impact sales going forward? That’s what Samsung is hoping for, and TCL will hoping that sales will still grow for their new QLED TV as it looks to supplant Samsung as the no.1 TV brand.

But in the battle between Samsung and TCL, which we can’t see ending any time soon, the Korean electronics brand has struck a glancing blow.
