Google Pixel owners are reporting a noticeable drop in battery life following the April 2026 update.
A growing thread on Google’s Issue Tracker has racked up hundreds of reports in under 10 days. Meanwhile, similar complaints are popping up across Reddit and other forums.
The common theme shows aggressive battery drain even when phones aren’t being actively used. Some users say their devices are burning through charge overnight or while sitting idle. One user points to constant CPU wakeups keeping the phone active in the background. Others claim the issue persists even in airplane mode. This suggests something deeper at the system level.
Real-world impact seems pretty significant. One user said their Pixel 8 Pro dropped to 57% after just six hours off the charger with minimal use. Another reported battery life being cut in half after the update. “It wasn’t just in my head,” one Reddit post reads. This echoes a wider sense that something changed suddenly after installing the latest patch.
There’s also some speculation around apps making things worse. A few users have suggested social apps like Facebook and Instagram could be contributing to the drain. However, nothing is confirmed yet.
Google has acknowledged the issue, first responding on April 14. It is actively collecting bug reports while it investigates. So far, though, there’s no confirmed fix or clear cause. This simply means affected users have to wait for a software update.
