Twelve South has unveiled a new portable charger that feels less like a traditional power bank and more like something you’d leave attached to your keys every day.
Called the PowerClip, the compact accessory is designed for those moments when your phone suddenly drops to 1% at exactly the wrong time.
The biggest selling point here is portability. Rather than asking users to carry around another chunky battery pack, Twelve South has built the PowerClip around a lightweight clip-on design. It comes complete with a removable zinc-alloy carabiner that can attach to bags, belt loops, backpacks or keyrings.
Despite the tiny footprint, the PowerClip still packs a 2,000mAh battery. Twelve South says this is enough to add roughly 30% charge to a smartphone or fully recharge a pair of AirPods, making it more of an emergency backup than an all-day battery solution. But that also seems to be the point.

Instead of detachable cables, the PowerClip includes two built-in USB-C cables, both capable of charging devices at up to 5W simultaneously. One of those cables also handles recharging the battery itself. This also supports passthrough charging, so the PowerClip can refill while still powering another device.
The company says the charger can fully recharge in under two hours, while integrated LED indicators show remaining battery levels at a glance.
Design is clearly a big focus here too. Twelve South is positioning the PowerClip as part of its broader Travel Essentials lineup alongside accessories like AirFly and PowerCapsule. The brand is leaning into colourful finishes rather than the usual plain black battery pack aesthetic, with options in Mint, Fuchsia, Teal, Dune and Slate.
At £39.99, the PowerClip definitely sits at the premium end for a 2,000mAh charger, especially compared to larger-capacity alternatives. Still, the convenience angle is easy to see. A tiny battery clipped to your bag is probably more useful than a bigger one left at home in a drawer.
