Canon has officially unveiled the EOS R6 V, its latest creator-focused mirrorless camera, alongside a major milestone for the RF system: the first full-frame RF power zoom lens.
The launch follows an early leak and positions the R6 V as a more video-centric option within Canon’s growing “V” lineup.
The company builds the camera around a 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor paired with the DIGIC X processor, clearly designing it for hybrid shooters.

On the video side, it supports 4K 60p oversampled recording, delivers uncropped 4K 120p high-frame-rate capture, and 7K Open Gate recording in both RAW and MP4 formats. That Open Gate mode uses the full 3:2 sensor area, giving creators more flexibility for reframing in post. Canon Log 2 is also included, with up to 15+ stops of dynamic range under optimal conditions.
One of the more noticeable changes is the body design itself. The R6 V moves away from Canon’s traditional mirrorless styling, instead opting for a flatter, more angular body that’s easier to rig with cages and gimbals. It also includes a vertical tripod mount, paired with an auto-rotating UI for portrait shooting. A built-in active cooling fan is another key addition that helps to support longer recording sessions without thermal limits getting in the way.
Alongside the camera, Canon has introduced the RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ, the first RF lens for full-frame cameras to feature power zoom. The zoom is controlled via a single ring that switches between motorised and manual operation. It maintains a constant f/4 aperture and a non-extending barrel for more stable handling during video work.
The EOS R6 V will launch in late June 2026, priced at $2,499 for the body only. A kit bundle including the new RF20-50mm power zoom lens will be available for $3,699.
With Open Gate recording, active cooling, and Canon’s first full-frame RF power zoom lens, the R6 V looks like one of the company’s most video-focused hybrid cameras yet.
