Fitness wearables are getting increasingly expensive once subscriptions enter the picture. However, the Luna Band looks like it wants to sidestep that entirely.
The upcoming fitness tracker has now confirmed its launch plans, and unlike rivals such as Whoop, Luna won’t charge a monthly fee to use the device.
Originally revealed back at CES earlier this year, the Luna Band will officially open for pre-orders on 4 July, with shipping expected to begin on July 31. However, the all-important pricing still hasn’t been confirmed. Even so, the company is clearly positioning it as a more flexible alternative to both Whoop and newer rivals like Fitbit Air.
What makes Luna Band stand out is that it seems to be aiming beyond standard health tracking. Alongside the usual heart rate, SpO2, sleep, and activity monitoring sensors, Luna is also adding features you don’t normally see on minimalist fitness bands.

There’s a built-in vibration motor for haptic alerts, which can notify users about calendar appointments, reminders, or fitness milestones directly from the wrist. Moreover, it also includes microphones, allowing voice commands through either Siri or Google Gemini, though there’s no speaker onboard to hear responses.
That means users can reportedly start workouts hands-free, and Luna’s custom “LifeOS” platform will support deeper third-party integrations over time.
Battery life could be another strong selling point here. Luna says the band can last up to 10 days on a single charge. This would comfortably beat many smartwatch-style fitness trackers, while still offering more smart features than simpler health bands.
The timing is interesting too. Wearables are increasingly moving toward subscription models, with services like Whoop locking deeper insights behind monthly memberships. Luna appears to be leaning hard in the opposite direction by making all its features available up front.
If the company can keep the price competitive, Luna Band could end up being one of the more interesting Fitbit Air alternatives this year, especially for users who want smarter fitness tracking without adding another monthly payment to the pile.
