Apple’s next big iPhone event may already have a likely date, and it makes complete sense.
The detail comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who expects Apple to stick close to its usual September schedule for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. That makes September 8, 2026 the strongest possibility for now.
The event is expected to include the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. More interestingly, it could also be where Apple finally unveils its first foldable iPhone, which has been rumoured under names such as iPhone Ultra.
Gurman reportedly expects Apple to hold the event on the first Tuesday or Wednesday after Labor Day. In 2026, Labor Day falls on September 7, which makes September 8 the most likely date. September 9 is still said to be possible too.
If Apple chooses September 9 instead, pre-orders could reportedly open on September 10, with the new iPhones likely going on sale later in the month. As usual, Apple has not confirmed anything yet, so the dates should still be treated as possible launch windows for now.
Release date shuffle
The more interesting detail may be how Apple plans to roll out the next iPhone lineup. Apple is reportedly changing its usual schedule, with the higher-end iPhone 18 Pro models and foldable iPhone Ultra arriving first, while the standard iPhone 18 and other lower-end models may come later.
That would make the September event more focused on Apple’s most expensive iPhones. It would also give the foldable model more room to stand out, especially if it ends up launching under the Ultra name.
Even with a likely date now in view, there are still plenty of unknowns, including pricing, availability, and whether the foldable iPhone will ship at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro models.
