Huawei has started teasing its next flagship smartphone launch. While the company is keeping most of the details under wraps, one thing is clear: the Pura 90s series is going to be hard to miss.
Ahead of its global unveiling next week, Huawei has shared a pair of teasers on X that show off the upcoming Pura 90s Pro and Pura 90s Pro Max. Interestingly, the phones will carry the “Pura 90s” branding internationally, rather than simply Pura 90 as they’re known in China.
Huawei hasn’t explained what the added “S” stands for, but it could hint at differences between the global and Chinese versions. Whether those changes involve hardware, software or regional features remains to be seen. Huawei hasn’t confirmed if the standard Pura 90s will also make the trip outside China.
For now, the biggest reveal is the design. The teaser focuses on the Pura 90s Pro Max in a striking Orange Ocean finish. It features a bold gradient that blends vibrant orange into deep blue across both the rear panel and the frame. It’s a noticeably more adventurous look than many recent flagship phones.
Beyond the new finish, Huawei hasn’t revealed any specifications just yet. The teaser doesn’t offer a closer look at the cameras, display or chipset. However, the company will drip-feed more information before the official launch event.
Even so, the branding change is an interesting development. Huawei has previously used “S” naming on other products to distinguish regional variants or updated models. So it’ll be worth seeing whether the global Pura 90s lineup differs meaningfully from the phones already announced in China.
With the launch now just days away, there’s unlikely to be a long wait for the remaining details. If Huawei sticks to its usual rollout, we can expect more teasers in the run-up to its 14 July reveal.
