Audeze has given its flagship gaming headset a significant upgrade, with the launch of the Maxwell 2 ANC.
Building on the original Maxwell 2, the new model adds active noise cancellation, smarter audio features and improved connectivity. It also retains the planar magnetic drivers that helped make the headset a favourite among gamers and audio enthusiasts.
The new headset is available now, priced at $429 for the PlayStation version and $449 for the Xbox model.
The headline addition is adaptive hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC), marking the first time Audeze has brought the feature to the Maxwell line-up, which combines both feedforward and feedback microphones. In addition, it includes a low-latency transparency mode, allowing players to stay aware of their surroundings when needed without compromising positional audio.
Audeze also claims its new ANC system performs particularly well against constant low-frequency background noise. This helps reduce distractions during longer gaming sessions.
Alongside the new noise cancellation, the Maxwell 2 ANC introduces several software upgrades. The headset supports AI-controlled ANC adjustments, voice-activated commands, and an improved transparency mode. It also provides the ability to play wired and Bluetooth audio simultaneously — a useful addition for anyone who wants to mix game audio with music, voice chat or calls from a phone.

The core audio hardware remains unchanged. Maxwell 2 ANC continues to use Audeze’s proprietary planar magnetic drivers, now paired with the company’s SLAM acoustic technology. This technology is designed to deliver deeper bass while maintaining the detailed, accurate sound that planar drivers are known for.
Audeze says the headset has also been made more comfortable for extended gaming sessions. It still supports a wide range of devices, including Windows PCs, macOS, Android, iPhone, Nintendo Switch and current-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
There’s a cosmetic update too. Buyers can customise the headset with interchangeable ReSkin ear cups, including limited-edition designs. These let users change the look without replacing the headset itself.
While reviewers already considered the original Maxwell one of the best wireless gaming headsets available, the addition of ANC and more flexible connectivity makes the Maxwell 2 ANC a much more complete package. This does come at a premium price, however.
